Take action to develop a plan of protection of their salt water wetlands (the Marsh) between the Turning Basin #3 and the area including TSTI, General Hulen's home and the Spoil Dump, and extending north of Main Street.

Whereas, MCND#1 is charged with maintaining the viability of the Port of Palacios, including protection and development of Port Properties, and
Whereas, this charge includes protection of the environment, and
Whereas, this Marsh is a Designated Wetland, harboring grass shrimp, providing a nursery for various marine animals, and protection and a feeding area for shorebirds, thereby providing a natural attraction to the area of Palacios, making it imperative we protect the Marsh from development that would detract from its scenic beauty, ability to support wildlife and serve as a buffer between the bay and the area drained by the Marsh.

        To achieve this objective, it is proposed that the MCNB #1 Board of Directors approve a Resolution to develop a Policy of Protection of MCND#1 which would exclude dredging, drainage, damming of the Marsh or any activity detrimental to its role in our environment.
